Great list – I’ll comment more in a bit — got to get the youn ens’ to bed right now! :-)

I lived over a bakery for a couple of years in Germany and it was incredible. All I had to do was walk downstairs and get hot bread… it was something that I could not resist doing EVERY day i was there. I didn’t need an alarm clock… the smell woke me every day!!!

What a fabulous experience! I would’ve been the bakery’s best customer. What were you doing in Germany?

What a perfect list. I would add just one more (for my sake: Finding one more M&M in the bag just before you throw it away.

You’re right… I love it when that happens!

    Let’s see; you forgot:

    Hot chocolate
    Properly cooked bacon and eggs
    Grapefruit
    Apple juice
    Ravel’s ‘Bolero’
Driving a 50 year old sports car
Watching re-runs of M*A*S*H and Cheers!

… and many more, but I’ll leave some for someone else.

I agree with you on ALL of those except grapefruit. You left off blood sausage. :)

I love this list…especially the one about overhearing somebody say something nice about you.

    :-D

It doesn’t happen often but I love it when it does.

Feeling nervous about something (new job, turning up at a party by yourself) and then having a giggle, realising how nice it is to still feel nervous about things at 30…or however old you are. I still feel dammit ;)

    Fresh mango

Hot shower after a particularly gruelling work-out

The first Cadbury’s Creme Egg of the season.

Settling on the couch to watch x number of your fave show in dvd box set. (chocolate, wine, other consumables optional)

Cup of tea made by the tea-lady after year 10s 2nd period

The smell of my hairy airedale after his bath – wool wash and clean doggy and the grass he has just rolled in.

    Loved your list.

Lol – missed out – getting so drunk your face goes numb ;)

I find immeasurable happiness with my favorite shows on DVD. In fact, since my cable doesn’t get set up until Saturday I’ve been watching those shows each night.

I was in the Army for a period and I coached Semi-Pro football in Germany. The team paid for my apartment in the small town…it was an amazing perk!!!!!

You mean soccer? VERY COOL! In the Army and a coach. Not quite sure how that all worked but I bet you had some amazing adventures.

oh, just reading through that got a bit of a high going…thanks! :-)

Romi… your site cracks me up. You are hysterical.

#11 – My favorite smell! Love that!
#32 – It smells even better when you are the one who made it….
#19 – Hugs can make up for an entire day of complete shittiness.
#23 – making eye contact with a perfect stranger and getting a smile, that will make my day anytime!
#22 – I think I’m guilty of flattering you on more than one occassion… :)

I can think of a few things I would add to this list, but one that stands out for me:
Having the lead singer dedicate her next song to you.
    Makes me swoon every time.

You’re right: hugs DO make up for an entire day of shittiness. I’ve been having a few shitty days lately and could certainly use a hug because chocolate just isn’t cutting it right now.

If I lived a little less than 3000 miles away, I would be there in a heartbeat to offer a hug or two :)

You’re very sweet. A hug from you would be most welcome.

Nah…real American tackle football. The NFL was just making its’ NFL Europe push in the early 90’s and a part of that was a grassroots effort to integrate American football into European society at the local level. I coached and played on one of those teams for four years in a small German town. Unfortunately, the team disbanded the year after I left.

    Still very impressive!

The stories are endless. Those were four incredible years…

    >>You left off blood sausage. <<

We call it black pudding, and I used to love it … still do, but I must only eat small portions of it very occasionally.

Sorry, but I can’t agree with you on this one. To me, eating blood sausage is like eating a scab. But then again, I don’t like traditional American staples like peanut butter and jelly or hot dogs.
